The sun is setting
News of cancer hits me hard
Uncertain future
Love and support overflow
I know I will be all right

My Story
I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2020, less than two months before the pandemic hit the Washington, D.C. area. Finding the right team of doctors for my cancer treatments at that time was a challenge.
I experienced setback after setback. It encouraged me to write a journal so I could hopefully better understand what was happening to me, as the hurdles I faced grew larger.
My journaling became the start of this story I am now sharing with the world. It was not easy to write my story. At first, reliving some of the moments on paper was difficult. I pushed through it with the hope that it would help others and their loved ones who have similar struggles.

REVIEWS
"It's specific, clear, detailed, and informative. It's personal, yet anyone in a similar situation would learn from your experience what to expect, what to ask for, and that hidden gifts appear along the way. I wish you had been spared this particular life trial, but you have spun straw into gold. Brava!"

"This is a short but powerful book that chronicled the author's breast cancer battle during the pandemic. I enjoyed the author's honesty in sharing her feelings of dread, her health and treatment setbacks and disappointments and triumphs and all the people in her life that inspired or encouraged her walk. It's also an endearing story about gratitude and the simple gestures that can make all the difference in someone's life and recovery as well as a story about self-advocacy. I think this book would make a wonderful gift to someone having to face a health crisis. Enjoy and pass it on in compassion."
